The Entrepreneurial MD is excited to announce a new four week Teleseminar --The Entrepreneurial MD BizIdeas™ TeleSeminar -- for physicians who want to try new things in their medical practices OR start profitable businesses on the side ...... and need help with ideas for getting started.
"The BizIdeas teleseminar with Philippa is simply wonderful! Philippa deeply wants her clients to succeed. She is savvy, creative, generous, and compassionate and, as a coach, she motivates to new heights! She thinks of things in ways you would never have thought of on your own and pushes you through your own barriers to think of the possibilities!" When you signed up for my report "Crack the Code to Becoming an Entrepreneurial Physician", you may have noticed a question I asked at the time of sending you the report: "What is your biggest question about starting a business?"
Well, thanks to many of you who emailed me your responses, I discovered that one of your most pressing questions is "I want to start a new business but I don't have any clever ideas. Can you help?"
The answer is: Yes I'd love to help! And with this in mind, I have created a 4-week program to assist you in answering your questions about getting started in business or in a more business-like mode in your office.
There are three main challenges in deciding what business to start:
1. Determining what your interests, passions and preferences are, so that you can spend your time doing what you love
2. Knowing what talents, skills, and abilities you bring to the table, as well as your willingness and patience to learn new things
3. Figuring out if there is either a market “need” or a “want” for what you are thinking of offering.
If you’ve already responded positively to these challenges, you are on your way to starting a business and you don’t need any help with your decision.
However, if you have little or no idea how to uncover this information, or what to do with it, you might need some coaching.
"Thanks, Philippa, for a wonderful teleseminar course. It was well-presented and structured, and I actually made some significant changes because of the lessons I learned. I feel I now have the enthusiasm and energy that I had been missing for all these years"

What Is Needed for You to Come Up with a Viable Business Idea?
Based on my own experience and that of many other entrepreneurs, I believe that people need only three things to get them started along the path to entrepreneurship.
The first thing people need is clarity. I’ll bet there are many things you can do well. The secret to picking a good business idea is not in being knowledgeable about what the latest fads or trends are, or looking for a clever idea with some twist on what is tried and true in the marketplace.
Instead, the secret lies in understanding 1). what it is you love to do, so much so that you’d almost do it for free, and 2). what it is you are the best at doing, or are willing to learn to be skilled at.
The second is commitment. Leaving a known path to venture into the land of uncertainty and risk is not for the weak-kneed traveler. It will be your “I’m ready to do what it takes to make this work” attitude that will see you over the inevitable road bumps. Obviously, until you have a better sense of what business you could start, it may be your commitment to living a higher quality professional life or making a larger contribution that keeps you moving forward.
And the third is guidance through a reliable process provided by an experienced consultant, mentor or coach. What this does is speed up the time to getting a result – either an actual idea for a business, or the “know-how” for continuing your exploration on your own with greater confidence.
How would you know if this teleseminar is right for you?
You’re a good candidate for The Entrepreneurial MD BizIdeas™ teleseminar coaching if:
1. You’re interested in starting a business or upgrading your clinical practice
2. You have no idea what you could do.... or you feel as if your ideas are vague and fuzzy!
3. You’re committed to the adventure sufficiently to devote time to finding answers to your challenges.
4. You’re willing to try things outside your current comfort zone.
5. You're patient, and yet willing to be decisive.
If this sounds like you, you'll get a whole lot out of the teleseminar!
What you will learn in The Entrepreneurial MD BizIdeas™ Teleseminar:
1. Determining your Core Requirements.
You'll clarify what you must have in your professional life to satisfy your deepest needs – your Preferences and "Non-Negotiables" (examples might be: independence, financial stability, flexible hours, opportunity to work close to home to raise kids, creative outlet as a writer/artist, etc)
2. Identifying your Core Capabilities.
You'll articulate who you are and what you are capable of being “best in the world at” - your Passions, Skills and Talents (examples might be: adventurous, dogged patience, full of inventive ideas, willingness to do what it takes, specialized knowledge others find valuable, love of teaching etc).
3. Identifying your Core Complementary Needs.
You'll discover the areas for which you are “not best in the world at”. We can't do it all by ourselves, and this class will help you identify what you need in the way of outsourced services, or help from people with complementary skills, to close your “knowledge” and “preference” gaps - your Competency Gaps (examples might be: being organized, financial knowledge, marketing skills, internet skills or technology know-how)
4. Creatively researching the business opportunities.
You'll brainstorm and uncover ways to find a match between your Preferences, your Skills and Talents, and what the “Marketplace” is willing to pay for (examples might include setting up surveys, focus groups, or informational interviews, creating prototypes if needed, AND identifying where your potential target market might be found, to invite their input). This can be one of the biggest challenges for anyone starting a new business - figuring out where there "target market" can be found, how to reach them and how to persuade them to purchase their offering.
I use one model in The Entrepreneurial MD BizIdeas™ coaching:
Many years ago, when I read Jim Collins' book “Good to Great”, I saw how profound his model was for not only building a superior company, but also for creating the framework for a great life and career.
To do the vital work of making sure you're well-equipped to start the right business for you, I have adapted Jim Collins' simple, powerful model of the Hedgehog Concept .
In this model, he asks “Are you a hedgehog or a fox?”
The hedgehog is capable of doing one thing magnificently, and when engaged in this task, it is focused, driven and “in the zone”.
The fox on the other hand is scattered, disorganized and unfocused.
The goal of this teleseminar is to help you reach the point of owning your hedgehog – a passionate knowing and acceptance of what it is you excel at and love doing, and what business opportunities these insights present to you.
"Philippa brings energy, passion, commitment, brilliance and curiosity to her teaching. She provides excellent material, and also honors the contributions of class members". D.L., LCSW, teleseminar participant
If you would like to hear me talk more about this new teleseminar workshop, I have created a short audio presentation (it's 3 minutes and 23 seconds long) to give you some background, and insights into how this course can help you uncover ideas for the business that you are ideally suited to starting.

There is no longer any need for you to feel confused or stuck about your future as an entrepreneurial physician!

Teleseminar FAQs:
1. What is a teleseminar?
A teleseminar is a series of classes conducted over the telephone. To participate, you’ll be sent a bridgeline phone number, with an access code, by email, so that you can call at the appointed time. Everyone will be present on the line (like a large conference call), but you will have the option to mute your line and keep listening, without your background noise disturbing the class.
2. What if I can’t make all the classes?
Each class will be recorded and I’ll send you a link in an email after the call to the recording. You will be able to listen to it directly from your computer (“streaming audio”) or you will be able to download it to your computer’s hard drive and then transfer it to an mp3 player, if you prefer.
You’ll get all the content – and the homework assignments – but you will miss being able to share in the discussion and get your questions answered during class.
3. Why a group?
Participating in a group is an ideal way for most professionals to “get their feet wet” when they are contemplating change. It is both fun and reassuring to be working with colleagues who are all in a similar place. And, as professionals with a vast amount of collective experience, you can serve as a great sounding board and brainstorming function for each other.
The relative anonymity of the phone also makes it easier for people to share, without feeling foolish or intimidated.
If you would prefer to do this work individually, contact me to talk more about your wishes.
4. What if I discover this isn’t for me?
If, by the end of the second week, you decide that this teleseminar workgroup is not for you, please let me know. Your money will be FULLY REFUNDED.
5. Can I invite friends or colleagues to join me?
Yes, please do. In fact, for every friend you invite who signs up, I will refund you 10% of your total fee!! Just let me know who you’ve sent and as soon as they sign up, I will refund you your 10%. Refer 10 friends who sign up – you get to participate for FREE!
6. Do I have to be an MD or DO to participate?
No you don’t! Any aspiring entrepreneur with a healthcare background will benefit from this teleseminar! The examples and stories will be medically-oriented, and this is early-stage business development work anyone contemplating a business SHOULD be doing. It will help create the clarity and focus you need to take the next action steps towards starting your own business!
7. What can I expect to get out of The Entrepreneurial MD BizIdeas™ Teleseminar?
You can expect to have an answer to the question so many of you have posed to me: “How can I figure out what business to start?”You'll get encouragement.
You'll get confidence.
You'll get a blueprint - a clear and defined process for determining 1. whether you’re truly ready to start a business, 2. what that business might be, and 3. what the next steps are, to get going.
8. How can I be sure this isn’t generic “stuff”?
Two ways!Number one is to PARTICIPATE in the discussions and do your after-class assignments. Everyone who wants it will have a turn “in the hot seat” to get feedback and coaching by me and the group in class.
Number two is to take advantage of the opportunity to communicate via email with me - I am very responsive, and I am happy to review and comment on any materials you send me regarding the seminar topic.
And remember - there’s a lot of free advice out there. However, for most people, it ISN'T enough to read books or web articles, no matter how comprehensively the authors cover the topics. They need the guidance and insights from actual people with knowledge and experience. And none of the free stuff comes with a focus on you and your unique hedgehog!
"It still astonishes me that I was able to develop such a trusting, open relationship with a coach that I've never met in person. Before my work with Philippa, I had established a professional development “support group” with 3 other physicians I met through my national professional association. While these monthly calls have been very rewarding, they have not provided the opportunity for intensive work and full candor that my work with Philippa provided. She helped me negotiate through a difficult time of change and exploration, both professionally and personally. I suspect many of my physician colleagues could significantly benefit from working with a coach like her."
