Handy resources for the entrepreneurially-minded physician

Today, it's time to share a few more resources for those of you who are serious about your business.
PartnerUp describes itself as "the first online community focused on bringing entrepreneurially-spirited people together with a goal of building companies, careers, and relationships".
They also have this to say about their mission:
"PartnerUp helps entrepreneurs and businesses find the potential business partners, executives, board members, and skilled employees that they need to make their venture a success. Concurrently, we help professionals (accountants, lawyers, and marketing people to name a few) find opportunities to become involved in helping to grow businesses by using their skills and experience. Finally, we provide a community for building lasting business relationships (and, in many cases, friendships) with others who share the same business and/or career goals."
If, after listening to Ginny Wilmerding in The Entrepreneurial MD's complimentary monthly teleclass for May, you are inspired to seek out other, less risky ways to become a physician entrepreneur, this may be just the new destination for you to explore!
The next nugget I have for you is from my dear colleague, Pam Slim of Escape from Cubicle Nation. For those of you who are at the point of having to give persuasive presentations to would-be investors or partners (the one's you found at PartnerUp!!), she has written a comprehensive guide to remembering all the details for a hitch-free presentation. And if you are giving a paper or presentation at a conference instead, it will serve you equally well. It's a list I certainly intend to print up and file in my Presentations folder!
Finally, what about kicking your marketing efforts into a higher gear? Whether it's your current medical practice or your new business, its financial health depends on your ability to serve your existing clients or patients with excellence, and to draw in new prospects who become devoted long-term customers. To help you with your marketing efforts, my favorite small business marketing guru, Robert Middleton, has created a new "freebie" on his website, Action Plan Marketing, that is both generous and comprehensive in its scope.
Here's how he describes the Marketing Plan Start-Up Kit (available in the Free Stuff section):
"The Start-Up Kit includes an 85 minute mp3 Audio Tutorial and 22-page Workbook - everything you need to build a client-attracting marketing plan.
It's a step-by-step guide to attracting more clients. No matter what kind of self-employed professional you are, this Marketing Plan Start-Up Kit will help you become a better marketer."
If his pragmatic approach could liberate me from the core terror I used to feel about marketing my coaching services, I can assure you it will help you as well.
Happy entrepreneuring!
