Physician career networking follow up done brilliantly
Monday, November 16, 2009 at 08:46AM
Every now and again, I encounter physician career networking done so well by doctor business owners and those doctors in career transition that I have to remark (and blog) on it.
This morning presented another opportunity for me to highlight a job really well done by one of the physician attendees at the MedicalFusion conference I attended this last weekend in Las Vegas.
Here is the email (slightly modified to preserve anonymity) that awaited me in my Inbox, before I dissect it for you:
Hi Philippa:
How are you doing? I met you at Medfusion in Las Vegas over the weekend.
It was a pleasure meeting you. You have a very good energy about you and I could see why you went into coaching.
I see patients one day/week but I schedule one hour visits and I essentially do a combination of coaching, psychotherapy and integrative medicine. I also am a commercial pilot and fly ....
Hope to see you soon. I will pass your contact to physicians I know who may be interesting in your coaching. I may need it too :)
I attached a picture to help keep all the people you met organized. (A nice clear photo was attached to the email).Name
Contact information with website
All the elements of excellent follow-up are there:
- Immediacy - he emailed me today having left the conference yesterday!
- A friendly greeting
- A reminder about who he was (even adding the nice touch of including a photo)
- A nice comment about me
- A "give, give, give" (I will pass your contact to physicians I know who may be interesting in your coaching.)
- Contact info.
All very important in creating a lasting impression that will make sure he is memorable. And I bet it didn't take him more than 3 minutes to write the follow-up email. I wonder if he has read the Bob Burg "Endless Referrals" networking "bible". This is a classic example of physician career networking done with great elegance.
Will you do the same?
Oh, and a big warm WELCOME to all new MedicalFusion Conference readers!
